The electronics retailer raised full-year revenue guidance by JPY 30.0bn to JPY 1,030.0bn, representing a 3.0% increase from prior guidance. The interim period (second quarter) revenue was lifted by JPY 20.0bn to JPY 490.0bn. Management attributed the revision to stronger-than-anticipated sales in its digital appliance specialty store division, where seasonal air conditioning units and other seasonal products performed robustly. The company’s carrier shop operations, product business, and overseas divisions also exceeded expectations, each posting record-high sales in the first quarter.

The revision reveals solid underlying demand across Nojima’s retail portfolio. However, the company held operating profit, ordinary income (keijo rieki), and net profit guidance flat despite the revenue uplift, suggesting margin pressure or cost absorption offsetting the sales gains. Earnings per share declined marginally to JPY 92.84/share from JPY 93.30/share, reflecting the impact of a recent stock split. International investors should note that ordinary income—a Japan-specific metric encompassing operating profit plus non-operating items such as interest and dividend income—differs materially from operating profit and may not align with IFRS or US GAAP conventions.
